Essex Section Bluebell Camping Week April2027
Arrive on Monday 19th April and depart on Saturday 24th April 2027
Route sheets are provided for rides on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday. There will also be a run leader each day for riders not wanting to follow a route sheet.. Downloads for these at the bottom of the page.
The camping field has twenty electric hook ups, male and female toilets, drinking water tap and chemical toilet disposal drain. There are separate male and female shower cabins, each with two shower cubicles plus a bench seat and hooks for hanging clothing.
At Battlesbridge there are antique shops, a pub, The One Green Bottle, selling craft beers (only open 10am to 5pm) and tea rooms. A couple of the runs will get back to the site by 3pm or earlier to give you time to look around the facilities. There are two tea rooms on site and a third tea room at the top of the old Battlesbridge Mill, just across the road, with excellent views over the river Crouch and the surrounding area. Also a short walk (250 yards or so) across the road from the site is The Hawk Pub and restaurant for daytime and evening meals which is open everyday till 11pm (the kitchen closes at 9pm).
The campsite address is:
Battlesbridge Antiques Centre, Muggeridge Farm, Maltings Road, Battlesbridge, SS11 7RF (What3words; messaging.tins.tile)
The camp site fees for 2027 have not yet been set but this year it is £18.00 per pitch per night plus £2.00 per person per night so £22.00 for a pitch with two campers. An electric hook up is £5.00 per night. A group evening meal will be arranged at The Hawk Pub, details available nearer the event.
If you would like hotel accomodation rather than camping then there are a couple of local options.
The first is Frasers: It is an on site small bed & breakfast hotel and tea rooms with six en-suite rooms, two of which I am told are dog friendly. It serves breakfast from 8am for hotel guests but the campers can pay for breakfast there as well if they would like to do so. It is open six days a week for lunch and afternoon tea till 4.30pm but is closed all day Tuesdays. (still to be confirmed if breakfast is available for campers on Tuesday)
Frasers Address is: Frasers Guest House, The Old Granary, 5 Maltings Rd, Battlesbridge, Wickford SS11 7RF (What3words; masterful.decisions.tractor)
The second is: Retendon Lodge & Country Hotel, Burnham Rd, Battlesbridge, Wickford SS11 7QT (What3words; plodding.lowest.groomed). (5 minutes by car or motorcycle from the campsite)
It has eight en-suite rooms each with TV and Tea & Coffee making facilities. The restaurant is open Monday to Saturday 12pm till 9pm. It serves 2/3 course meals plus bar menu meals.
For now please let us know if you are interested in coming to this event.
We will send out up to date details early next year once we have them ourselves. If you want to book hotel accomodation then that is your responsibility. Please do so, in good time, directly with the hotel of your choice to ensure you get the hotel and room that best suits your needs. We hope to see you in 2027 at Battlesbridge, view on Facebook or info@battlesbridge.com
All the best,
