I arrived early just in case anybody had missed Simon's update email for revised start time to find just Peter had arrived, but as he has a long way to come he usually arrives early. At 10.00 two bikes arrived and we soon had twentythree. A varied selection of machines old and new with some I had never seen on a run before. The old and slow seems to tick the right boxes. Apologies to the member on his first ride for not speaking to him, time just went past to quickly.
Weather was kind dry and not to hot. Setting off from Writtle car park at a leisurely pace we soon arrived at the first stop for drinks and cake with only one member dropping out with a Bantam that didn't want to play. Arriving at the venue I was told that my headlight had fell out chipping mudguard paint and dangling by the wiring. Thanks to a joint effort involving polythene bag and sticky back plastic temporary repairs were made. I guess we all watched Blue Peter.
Suitabley fortified we set off for our lunch at the Eagle Kelvendon Hatch, enjoying the waves and cheers from bystanders as we passed, a smooth journey and for once we all managed to stay together. on Arrival the landlord informed me that he had reserved ten places for us, had a shock to be told that twentytwo had turned up. For those of a sensitive nature I won't repeat his comments needless to say he was a little harrised. After a while when he found we were harmless he relaxed and started smiling. (Maybe he checked the till receipts).
Cannot speak for anyone else but I had an enjoyable day enhanced with a trip to club night on the Ducati Elite leaving the Ducati 350 to sulk in the naughty corner (Last photo)
A most enjoyable evening hearing about the Maldon Military museum. Not to many turned up, pity as the speaker puts a lot of effort into these talks. A visit to the museum is recommended.
George Smith
Many thanks George for a superb run today . I really enjoyed it.
I was very lucky to be the tailender on the ride, not only did I get to hear a great variety of wonderful sounding motorcycles I also had a marvellous view of the bikes as they snaked along some great roads, waving to people who had stopped what they were doing to watch the possession.
